In February 2019, the Vision Committee recommended that the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) chart a new course for medical practice. Arguing that the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirement for improvement in the medical practice had become onerous for some Diplomates and challenging to implement for many specialties, the Vision Committee called for the identification of new approaches to advancing practice while recognizing what Diplomates are already doing.
