Certification Activities
To maintain your certification, you are required to earn certification points by completing Self-Assessment and Performance Improvement activities.
Self-Assessment
Designed to help family physicians identify gaps in knowledge through regular participation in Self-Assessment activities. ABFM offers three activities to satisfy your Self-Assessment requirement.
- Knowledge Self-Assessment activity
- Continuous Knowledge Self-Assessment activities
- National Journal Club article assessments
Performance Improvement
Designed to support high-quality patient care, this component will help family physicians identify an improvement opportunity or a performance gap, implement a change in care delivery, and measure the impact of that change to their patients/practice.
Choose from a variety of ABFM-developed activities or design your own project through a self-directed activity.
To earn the remaining certification points required, you may complete additional Self-Assessment or Performance Improvement activities, or choose from a variety of alternative activities. Please visit your MyABFM Portfolio to view all available activities.
